Sweet Meetings With the Lord
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armour and protection. Psalm 91:4
This verse is an invitation. We are invited to draw near to our good Father. Verses like this one are ones you can step into, like the Narnian wardrobe. What if you took a moment and considered what it might look like and feel like if God has feathers like a mother hen, and was welcoming you to come and feel protected and safe? The verse says, “He will shelter you with So what if you chose to receive that picture the Bible offers us of a safe place to sit with God?
In this world that is rampant with fear, it is not a bad idea to have places we can go to with God where we feel safe and protected. Fear flees in those places. The Bible is full of ideas of safe places to meet with Him.
A good shepherd tends his sheep with great care.
Consider Psalm 23. The imagery is full of invites.
A place where we “shall not want” and have more than enough
A resting place
Beside still and restful waters
Where I am rested and restored
Led down a path of righteousness
A prepared table
Being anointed with warm oil
A full cup of your favorite beverage
Even when dealing with the hardest, darkest places, we can be free of fear. He is with us. And he will protect us and guide us.
I know this may sound foreign to you, but the truth is we are citizens of two places. We live here on this earth from our citizenship in heaven. We can impact those around us for the Kingdom of God because of who we are as His children. Safe, secure, protected, guided, tended, rested, righteous, fed, anointed, and full.
Jesus says he will never, ever leave us. So, how about meeting with him today? Find a quiet place and consider a place that seems very restful and peaceful to you. If one of the verses I have mentioned doesn’t seem like the place for you, look through the scriptures for others. There are verses about mountains and oceans. There are endless options.
There are so many places we can meet with our Father. And He wants to meet with us.
