In the Midst of a Battle?

Some of you are on my heart today. There is a weighty concern you can't get past. It is your first thought in the morning and your last thought at night. I feel the weight of your cares.

Might I offer a few suggestions?

I have started praying a prayer I learned from John Eldredge: “Father, I release everyone and everything to you.” I consider all my cares and picture myself putting them into His hands. Often, I will add, “I trust you.” This isn't a once-and-done, usually. If the struggle is big, I will pray this off and on throughout my day, if I pick those concerns back up.

Despite the report, you are not alone is the battle.

This is a spiritual battle.

The enemy knows your mind is key. He has no authority over your mind, except what you give him. The Truth says, “I have the mind of Christ.” Speaking that scripture over yourself is also helpful. This is how Jesus responded to Satan in the wilderness. If it were his mode of response, it would probably be a good idea for us as well. Pray and find scriptures that speak right to the struggle that you are having, and copy them and put them in a place where you can see them often.

You are not a victim of Satan.

He is a loser, and you are the child of the Most High King. Knowing who you are and who He is can make all the difference.  Jesus had defeated Satan. His blood has the final say in ANY struggle we have on this earth. In the place of struggle, it often helps me to spend some time considering the finished work of Jesus.

  • I thank him for defeating the enemy.

  • I say out loud that I receive everything that He purchased for me in his death, burial, and resurrection.

  • His blood that He shed covers us, and I thank Him for that.

  • I thank Him that I am not alone. He will never leave me or forsake me.

  • And I thank Him that I have been created to make a difference on this earth, and the enemy is not allowed to prevent me from the work I get to do with Jesus.

I want you to know you this is a tension you WANT to navigate. Once you are out from under this overwhelm, you won’t ever want to return to that place again. If you are in the heat of this battle, please know I would love to pray for you.

Leave a note in the comments and share a testimony if you have seen freedom!
